Ten Tips for Moms This Holiday Season

Ten Tips for Moms This Holiday Season

The holidays are magical… and also a little bit chaotic. Moms everywhere are out here trying to make Christmas feel like a Hallmark movie while juggling real-life responsibilities like work, laundry, Elf on the Shelf, and remembering which family member wants which present.

So here are my Top Ten Pretty Truth Holiday Tips for Moms. These are simple, doable, heart-centered ways to bring more peace and less pressure to your season.

1) Give Yourself Permission to Do Less

You do not need to attend every party, bake every cookie, or volunteer for every classroom craft. Pick the things that matter and let the rest slide guilt-free. Truly, the magic doesn’t disappear when the to-do list does.

2) Protect One Slow Night a Week

One night. Pajamas. No errands. No plans. Just rest, your couch, and maybe a Christmas movie you’ve seen 67 times.

3) Wrap as You Go

Nothing kills holiday joy faster than wrapping everything on December 23rd. Wrap two presents today. Your future self will thank you.

4) Choose a “Signature Gift”

Make one small, thoughtful gift your go-to for teachers, neighbors, coaches, and friends. Saves money, time, and sanity. Boom.

5) Lower the Mom Bar

Perfect holiday moms do not exist. Your kids will remember the vibe, not the matching napkins.

6) Let Your Kids Help

Their ornaments will be crooked. Their cookies will look… abstract. But these are the moments they’ll remember forever even if it is messy.

7) Don’t Overbuy (Seriously)

Kids don’t need 30 presents. They need connection. If buying is stressing you out, step back. Your presence > presents.

8) Say “No” Without Explaining

You don’t owe anyone a paragraph. “We can’t make it, but thank you!” is a complete sentence.

9) Ask for Help Before You Break Down

Holiday burnout hits hard. Let your partner take over bath time. Order groceries. Have someone wrap gifts with you. Let community be community.

10) Remember: Your Kids Want You, Not Perfection

They don’t need a perfect Christmas. They need a present mom. Your love is the tradition they’ll carry into adulthood.
